Ingredients
- 6 oz 170 gr White flour
- 6 oz 170 gr white sugar
- 6 oz 170 gr diced at room temperature Unsalted butter
- 6 oz 170 gr extra dark chocolate
- 3 medium 3 medium Eggs
- 3 medium 3 medium peeled and sliced Pears
- 1 teaspoon 1 teaspoon lemon zest
- 1 pinch 1 pinch Salt
- 1 teaspoon 1 teaspoon Ginger powder
Preparation
Preheat oven at 175°C/ 350F/ Gas 4.
Cut the chocolate into small pieces and put it in medium bowl together with the unsalted butter. Set the bowl over a pot of gently simmering water and let melt chocolate and butter in a double boil, stirring to combine. Mix all the other ingredients (apart from pears) in a large bowl, or in the bowl of a food processor, until you get rid of any lumps, and you have a soft, creamy batter and mix it together with the chocolate.
Grease a non stick baking tin (Ø 23-25 cm) and scrape the batter into the prepared tin. Insert the pear slices into the batter vertically, and bake for 40-50 minutes, or until a tooth pick inserted in the center of the cake comes out clean. Serve cold or warm.
Notes
This is an incredibly yummy chocolate cake, that combines its unique texture with the taste and delicacy of pears. You could not decide if it tastes better warm or cold, for a Sunday breakfast with your beloved.
I’m sorry, the photo doesn’t make justice to this mouthwatering slice of cake… I’m sure it’s because of the dish I used… I’m on holidays and I do what I can… Maybe I could take another pic, sooner or later… or you can forgive me for this awful pic…
